The annual Nanobiology symposium is almost there! May 17th the symposium will be held in the aula, lecture hall D. The doors open at 12:30 and we be from 13:00 till 16:30, after which we will provide snacks and refreshments in the Frans van Hasseltzaal.

This year we have the pleasure to have three well known speakers at our symposium; Dr. Wiro Niessen, Dr. Christine Mummery and Prof. Sir Vincent Icke.

Wiro Niessen is professor biomedical imageanalysis at the Erasmus MC and at the TU Delft. Wiro Niessen is the founder and scientific director of Quantib bv. Last year he even got the prestigious Simon Stevin meester price!! This is the biggest price in the Netherlands for technical scientific research.

Christine Mummery is Chair of Anatomy and Embryology and Professor of Developmental Biology at Leiden University Medical Center. Her research concerns cardiovascular development and disease models based on human stem cells She recently wrote a lay-guide on stem cells which was very well received “Stem Cell: Scientific Facts and Fiction”.

Vincent Icke is professor theoretical astrophysics at the Leiden University and next to that he is a publicist. Besides his research, Vincent Icke is also actively involved in popularising science. He was, for example, a regular guest at “De Wereld Draait Door” to put current events in a broader, scientifically accurate, perspective.

We are looking forward to welcome you at our symposium!
